MexicaliFounded on March 14, 1903, Mexicali is situated on the U.S.-Mexico border adjacent to Calexico, California. Mexicali is also the capital of the state of Baja California, Mexico. Mexicali is an important city for agriculture and industry in Mexico and represents one of the fastest growing and most prosperous cities in Mexico. Mexicali Mexico has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. It is the third largest producer of geothermal energy in the world, and is also home to a constantly growing number of Maquiladoras or production plants that produce several products for the US as well as other countries. Like its neighbor Tijuana, Mexicali also relies on tourism, visitors cross by foot or car from Calexico in the United States every day.
